Crackle is a multimedia application by Crackle Plus that lets mobile users stream videos for free. It features a large catalog of various popular movies and TV shows on offer, all on-demand and without the need for a subscription. It's able to achieve this by being an ad-supported streaming service.

Just like with Peacock or Pluto TV, Crackle's services can be used without paying for any plan or subscription. What makes it stand out more though, is that registration is also optional. Registered accounts will have fewer ads that appear and can take advantage of quick resumes for videos, though.

Is it worth checking out?

If you've used streaming services before, the experience in Crackle won't be far off. When you first open the app, you will immediately land on the Spotlight section that highlights all currently popular movies and TV shows that are trending or watched the most. You can easily navigate to the Movies or TV sections, though, using the hamburger icon on the top-left corner of the user interface.

Crackle's catalog is divided into categories for easier navigation. You will see them in rows as you scroll down its list of available content for watching. Alternatively, you can use the search bar up top to look for a particular title. When you pick one, you will proceed to a dedicated page that has more details about it, including a synopsis, cast, release date, and others.

As mentioned earlier, this is an ad-supported streaming service, and as such, expect ads to pop up now and then while you're watching. Just a few considerations before trying it out. First, videos are capped at 480p SD resolutions. Another is that its library is limited compared to others and it has been some time since it has seen any updates or new additions.

Decent free streaming service

If you like to stream movies and TV shows and you prefer something free, give Crackle a try. It's easy to use, has a decent catalog to choose from, and does not require any registration. You do have to deal with ads as you watch, but if you're okay with that, then this is a viable option to consider.
